Derek Hough Reveals Insider Details About Brooks Laich’s And Julianne Hough Engagement

Julianne Hough’s engagement may have surprised fans, but it didn’t surprise her brother. “Dancing With the Stars” veteran Derek Hough revealed that he knew Brooks Laich would pop the question after having a serious talk with Derek and Julianne’s father, Bruce Hough.
“He went to my dad,” Derek, 30, revealed to the Insider (via Us Weekly). “They locked themselves out on a deck -- they were out there for a good two hours talking so I kind of had an idea. I was like, ‘Oh, OK. I see what’s happening!’”
Derek’s sister Julianne, 27, announced her engagement to hockey player Brooks Laich, 32, on Tuesday. “We are overwhelmed with joy and excitement to share with you our recent engagement!” she wrote on Twitter and Instagram.
She posted a photo of herself on Twitter and Instagram in Laich’s arms by what looked like a lake. Derek revealed that they were on vacation with their whole family. “We actually spent the week at the lake house and all the family was there, the kids, nieces and nephews,” Derek explained. “And we spent the most magical, amazing week together and then at the very end [they] got engaged. He’s a great guy, I just couldn’t be happier for them.”
